About the Event

Polo in the Bay is more than just a new annual event, it’s a new tradition.

Every year, we’ll be kicking off the Mount Maunganui Summer with fast-paced entertainment and first-class hospitality – it’s a weekend that’s hard to resist!

Polo in the Bay features some of New Zealand’s most talented Polo players going to head-to-head in their provincial colours and this fresh Polo format brings you closer to the action – there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

We have a range of hospitality options available, from Private Marquees for social and corporate groups to the Polo Lounge with catering and a few more comforts.

Ticketing options include:

  • The Polo Lawn (R18)
  • Polo Lounge (R18)
  • Private Marquees (R18 – limited spaces)

THE POLO

Traditional Polo isn’t a format that everyone can follow, but Polo in the Bay is – that was our goal when we created it. We wanted a fresh, fast-paced format designed for spectators that requires ZERO polo knowledge to enjoy!

You’ve probably seen some Polo events pop up on your social feed, but you’re still not sure if this an event for you…are we right?!

This format is a bit different from traditional Polo, which is played on a huge field, around 270m long.  Think Test Cricket vs Twenty20 cricket, Sevens rugby vs the 15 aside game, yep, a bit different huh?

Our Polo field is much smaller, half the size of traditional polo, so it’s close to a soccer field in size. Our hospitality areas are within five metres of the field, so it’s not like the races where you need binoculars to follow the action – everyone has ringside seats, no matter which ticket option you choose.

Polo in the Bay will feature some of NZ’s most talented players going head-to-head in their provincial colours.  Our 2021 teams included Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Hawkes Bay with Waikato the eventual winners.
